Waiting at the airport made me all too happy to bid Australian shores farewell. No ATM's dispensed Australian dollars and the McDonalds EFTPOS system did not work so I could not even dine and dash... I ordered and dashed.
United Airlines is decidedly more budget than others though I say it's worth it for the captain's Chuck Yeager drawl. The food was reasonable, the entertainment good and I had a spare seat next to me, so plenty of room to stretch out.
We arrived half an hour early to a very grizzly, grey looking day and I'm guessing my taxi had worn out the treads on every tyre because each acceleration up the steep San Franciscan slopes was met with a whole lot of screeching and skidding.
Thankfully I made it out in one piece.
